The chopped cheese sandwich is quick, craveable, and endlessly customizable. Whether you're using Beast Burgers from Don’s Meat Shop or your own twist, this sandwich is a great go-to for an easy, satisfying lunch or dinner. Don’t forget to share with friend, and make a batch of oven fries on the side!

Ingredients

Main Sandwich:

2 (8 oz) hamburger patties (we used Beast Burger patties from Don’s Meat Shop)
½ medium onion, diced
Adobo seasoning, to taste (see recipe below)
4 slices American cheese
2 hoagie rolls
Burger sauce (see recipe below)
Optional toppings: shredded lettuce, thin tomato slices

Burger Sauce:

½ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup ketchup
2 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp dill pickle relish
1 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Sriracha, to taste (optional)

Adobo Seasoning:

2 tbsp salt
2 tbsp ground pepper
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp turmeric

Instructions:

Step 1: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the hamburger patties and sear for 3–4 minutes. Flip and break them up with a spatula. Cook for another 4–5 minutes until browned and cooked through.
Step 2: While the meat cooks, toast two hoagie rolls.
Step 3: Add diced onions and Adobo seasoning to the skillet. Cook for another 3–4 minutes until onions are softened and everything is well mixed.
Step 4: Divide the meat mixture in half in the skillet. Place two slices of American cheese over each portion and let melt.
Step 5: Place each cheesy meat portion onto a toasted hoagie roll.
Step 6: Top with burger sauce and your choice of shredded lettuce and thinly sliced tomato.
Step 7: Serve immediately and enjoy!
