OUR STORY

Welcome to Don's Meat Shop

First opening its doors in 1982, and like most small businesses, Don’s Meat Shop started with a dream, a desire to serve its customers, and a shoestring budget.

First locating near Hixson High School, it didn’t take long until Don’s became known for having “Hands Down The Best Meat in Town”.

Our founder Don Rains (seen in the picture to the left with his wife and co-founder Sally Rains) started his life in the meat business at just 11 years old. He taught his son (Donnie), and Grandson (Will) the art of the meat business, and today you will see both of them working shoulder to shoulder in the shop and carrying on the family business.

In 2015, Donnie Rains, son of founder Don Rains and current co-owner—commissioned the construction of the building you visit today. Don’s Meat Shop officially opened at its new location at 6408 Hixson Pike in 2016.

Fresh Cut Beef

Our steaks are hand-cut daily, hamburger meat is ground in-house from chuck roast (with no fillers) for the highest quality, and we have some specialty grinds, such as bacon burger patties which are also made fresh in-house.
