About this Recipe
The Chopped Cheese sandwich is a very easy item to make and it is very good, which we like…. A lot!
Please use this recipe as a guide and change it up as you see fit.
Oh, and be sure to tell your friends. Enjoy.
We made oven fries as a side for this sandwich. They are easy and pretty amazing themselves. We’ll share that recipe soon.
Ingredients
- 2 8oz. Hamburger Patties (we used Beast Burger patties from Don’s Meat Shop)
- 1/2 of a medium onion diced
- Adobo Seasoning to taste (Recipe below)
- 4 Slices American Cheese
- 2 Hoagie Rolls
- Burger Sauce (Recipe below)
Burger sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp dill pickle relish
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Sriracha to taste (Optional)
Adobo Seasoning:
- 2T Salt
- 2T Ground Pepper
- 1T Paprika
- 1T Oregano
- 1T Onion Powder
- 1T Garlic Powder
- 1T Chili Powder
- 1T Cumin
- 1T Turmeric
Method
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the hamburger patties and cook for 3-4 minutes to get a good sear, flip and break them up with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes total.
While meat is cooking, toast two hogie rolls.
Add the Adobo seasoning and chopped onion to the meat and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until onions are softened.
Divide the meat for each sandwich
Place a two slices of American cheese on top of each portion of meat and let it melt.
Place meat mixture on the toasted hoagie rolls.
Top with your preferred toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, and burger sauce (We like shreaded lettuce and tomatos sliced thin).
Serve immediately and enjoy!
